Should Obama be focused on immigration now?

There is a lot of issues that people want to place at the top of Obama's priority list.  I do not envy the president and his role of determining which issues need to have his attention.

With every issue a president has to deal with, there is no such thing as an independent issue.  Everything connects with everything else in some manner.

So how should one prioritize?  Focus on the easy ones?  The ones that will garner the most support from the party?  The squeaky wheel?  The biggest bang?  The least controversial?

Those interested in the issue of Immigration are doing their best to remind Obama of his promises and be the squeaky wheel until he pays attention.

I am not sure where I stand on this.  It is a complex issue fraught with emotional reactions.  I am appalled by the xenophobia that accompanies this issue and the vitriol it invokes.  The lack of attention we have placed at addressing the multicultural and bilingual realities within education are having detrimental effects on the quality of education.

This is a moral, economic, and national identity issue.  That seems pretty darn important to me....but so do so many other issues on the list
